
Arts Collaborative Conversation: Starting a Non-Profit Organization

Join the founders of SonAlt Arts Organization (Claudia Aizaga, Sum Yee Lee, Mateo Wojtczack)
for a conversation on their journey of launching an arts nonprofit organization and organizing an
international music festival. The mission of SonAlt Arts is to empower emerging musicians
through classical and contemporary music-making that promote cultural exchange with Latin
America. Their upcoming realization of this mission will be the SonAlt Arts Music Festival in July
2026, where performers and composers from around the world will be invited to Otavalo,
Ecuador for a week of educational and performance opportunities.

Dr. Claudia Aizaga is a flutist and the co-founder of the Ohio-based new music ensemble
Newphonia. She serves on the board of directors for Minnesota Winds and is a proud Sphinx
Fellow. Claudia’s mission is to educate and empower audiences from diverse cultural and
socioeconomic backgrounds through the performance of contemporary music.
Sum Yee Lee is a composer, educator and pianist. Her music is often inspired by nature, human
experiences, art works, and is characterized by spontaneous changes in dynamics, color,
character and texture.Sum Yee holds music degrees from Bowling Green State University,
Western Washington University and a biology degree from University of Washington.
Mateo Wojtczack is a composer, current Arts Collaborative graduate assistant, and DMA
candidate at UGA. His creative practice explores appreciating the mundane, incorporating
elements of chance, and manipulations of field recordings. Mateo holds degrees from Bowling
Green State University (MM) and State University of New York at Fredonia (BM).
