Ten years ago the AUX “Collaborative Arts Event” combined performances, screenings, installations, and an outdoor market into what would become the AUX Event and Publishing Series. The first festival was the celebration of a multi-year project, AUX Vol. 1, a collection of experimental sound from Athens in a meticulously assembled, hand printed package. The history of AUX now includes two CD anthologies, five festivals, community workshops, and the immeasurable influence of a model for self-sustaining community collaboration supported by ICE.
The spirit of AUX continues in the work of past participants, art publishing research at ICE, the Slingshot Festival, and special events such as the February 2016 Dada Centennial. Heather McIntosh, curator of the AUX Festivals, was recognized last year as an ICE Honorary Fellow.
