An interdisciplinary project for CORE Concert Dance Company.
Eastwinds is an interdisciplinary work choreographed by CORE’s artistic director Bala Sarasvati. The piece was created in the company’s attempt to comprehend and reflect the events of 2001. The work is enhanced through a live interactive sound installation by Leonard V. Ball, Jr., Director of the Roger and Phyllis Dancz Center for New Music, digital rendering by Michael Oliveri, Chair of the Department of Digital Media at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, and live music by Arvin Scott, Seth Hendershot and Chris Eckenroth. Rebecca Enghauser, former dancer of Garth Fagan Dance Company and faculty member of UGA Department of Dance performs with CORE members in this emotionally driven work.
Primary company members are: Kerry Allen, Ashley Brunning, Shawn Evangelista, Raina Hodges Meaghan Muller, Nicole Stansbury, Lindsey Spilker, and Nik Turner. The concert was created in the UGA Department of Dance through support provided by UGA Student Activities, Center for Humanities and Arts, College of Education, and ICE.
