Makerspace fun after the show!

Liza, Jack, and Avery Hinkley were lost on an abandoned island after a boating afternoon gone awry. Throughout their time on the island, the band used natural and found resources to build a life away from home. Join Mayor McMillian and the town of Franklin in hearing their story and awarding the siblings for their bravery, innovation, and work to change the community! After the performance, participants can create their own inventions with the UGA Children’s Theatre Troupe at different makerspace stations that will be filled with recyclable materials. Directed by Kelsey Brown and written by Ali Olhausen.

Supported by a Sustainability + Arts Grant sponsored by the UGA Office of Sustainability and Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE).

Does the thought of the upcoming blockbuster season fill you with dread? Are you nauseated by the barrage of multi-million dollar budget sequels and remakes? Do you yearn for an escape from an onslaught of CGI and greenscreens? Seek refuge with ICE-Vision, a collection of classic art-house cinema curated by Thomas Finan.

The great screen surrealist Luis Buñuel co-wrote and directed this dark, bitterly witty satire. A group of people in formal dress arrives at an elegantly appointed home for a dinner party. However, once dinner is over and the guests retire to the drawing room, they discover that the servants have gone away, and for some reason they cannot leave. There is no explanation why – there are no locked doors or barred windows preventing them from going home – but the guests are convinced that they’re stranded. Left to their own devices, they slowly but gradually degenerate into genteel savagery.
